Personal statement

I have worked in the National Health Service in the UK and Australia as well as having extensive private practice experience both within private clinics and BUPA hospitals.

For 11 years I was the Deputy Physiotherapy Manager at the BUPA Murrayfield Hospital in Edinburgh. My role there included acting as lead clinician for the outpatient physiotherapist team. I also worked in the Sports Medicine Clinic for 11 years in conjunction with Sports Medicine Doctors.

My experience with sports teams includes rugby league, treating both amateur and professional players. I specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, post-operative orthopaedics, rehabilitation and the treatment of sports injuries.

What our patients say about Joey

I have a suspected torn meniscus and knee osteoarthritis. I have been working with Joey to correct my gait, build on appropriate leg strengthening exercises and restore my confidence after a series of falls.

Joey’s mixture of expertise and encouragement is quite an exceptional-in fact I feel more determined and hopeful as a result of each of her sessions. I found following her advice and doing what she has recommended has worked well.

Beryl Homan-Elsy

Joey was great from the offset, clearly explaining my injury and coming up with an achievement training plan to gradually help me recover from injury. They were very positive people who gave you confidence I. Your recovery after I had a fairly mediocre experience with an NHS physio. Couldn’t recommend enough

Phil Cook

I loved working with Joey. I was consulted and listened to and all exercises and advice was very considered. Thank you
