Back Pain Myths & Truths
This video helps to explain why it is important to bust the myths which surround back pain and reinforce the latest evidence, to help our patients. The terms and the therapy we offer as practitioners needs to be relayed carefully and should be supported by medical science.
If you were to take all your information about low back pain from the internet, you would probably develop pain where you didn’t have it before! Low back pain is very common. It is one of the major causes of time off work, but the good news is that in the overwhelming majority of cases back pain recovers in about 4-6 weeks. However in some cases the pain persists, which is a huge burden to society, not to mention the individual.
In a recent paper published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, 10 commonly held beliefs were identified which are known to be false. These are very well summarised in the infographic below.
